Mason Greenwood has just concluded his most successful senior season yet with Marseille, scoring 26 goals and providing eleven assists.
The former Manchester United player, who joined Marseille in 2024, was recently named in the Ligue 1 Team of the Year, further highlighting his achievements.
However, beneath this success, tensions have escalated, with Greenwood frequently skipping French lessons and arguing that everyone in the dressing room speaks English.
The 24-year-old also had a falling out with manager Habib Beye, intensifying the strain as the season wrapped up.
In light of this, Mason Greenwood has been linked with several clubs for the upcoming summer transfer window.
Paris FC is among these clubs, as the French side was preparing a bid for Greenwood in late April. Since then, AS Roma has also shown interest in a move.
Now, according to a report from journalist Levent Umit Erol, Fenerbahce presidential candidate Hakan Safi is poised to announce the signing of Mason Greenwood.
It remains uncertain whether this report will lead to Greenwood actually joining the Turkish team; however, if true, it could serve as a demonstration of Safi’s intentions for the club.
Fenerbahce scored 77 goals last season in their effort to finish second in the Super Lig, and signing Greenwood may be the crucial step needed to secure the club’s first title in over a decade after five consecutive second-place finishes.
Manchester United is expected to benefit financially from this move, thanks to certain clauses in the player’s contract, although the extent of this financial gain remains unclear.
Attention may now shift to see if this report materializes, as it would make the 24-year-old’s fourth different club in this decade.
