Celtic Secures Double with 3-1 Victory Over Dunfermline
On Saturday afternoon, Celtic secured the double with a 3-1 win over Neil Lennon’s Dunfermline at Hampden Park, thanks to goals from Daizen Maeda, Arne Engels, and Kelechi Iheanacho.
The latter has had a knack of coming off the bench to deliver the goods in recent weeks, doing so here but also against Hibs and Motherwell to name a couple of examples since the split.
When addressing the fans during the celebrations, the Nigerian attacker was asked by Sky what it means to be in front of the fans parading the Premiership and Scottish Cup: “To be fair, it means the world to me, I’m telling the truth, it means the world to me.
Coming into this team, this season, I didn’t expect to play […], but coming into this season, with this group of lads, they make me happy every day. We have fun on the pitch, outside the pitch, they are like family to me.
I’m happy we did this, at the end of this season, and with the support of all the fans, we could do this, so I’m really happy.”
Then, as a follow up, he was asked about the high-pressure situations late on in the game, and how he managed to stay so calm, to which he gave a great response: “To be fair, I don’t have a clue how I’ve managed how to do all that. But, I know there is something in me that is driving me to do all of that, so I’ll keep being that (character) as long as I live.”
Just a great couple of responses. Humorous, honest, and down to earth. Let’s hope he can sign for another year. Why not?
