Wilfried Zaha to Depart Charlotte FC as MLS Transfer Window Approaches

As the football transfer windows around the world approach, an early departure in Major League Soccer (MLS) has been confirmed.

MLS’s secondary transfer window opens on Monday, July 13, and runs through Wednesday, September 2, aligning with the closing of transfer windows for many top leagues globally.

Former Manchester United star Wilfried Zaha, who joined Charlotte FC in January 2025, will leave the club when his deal expires on June 30, 2026.

“Wilfried has been an important part of Charlotte FC since his arrival on loan last winter and has played a key role in our attack since joining,” said the club’s General Manager Zoran Krneta, according to Charlotte FC’s official website.

“Last season, Wilf helped us reach the top four in the Eastern Conference for the first time, and he approached every match with a hunger and desire to perform for our supporters.”

“Everyone at Charlotte FC thanks Wilfried for his contributions to the Club, and we all wish him and his family continued success throughout the rest of his career.”

So far in the 2026 Major League Soccer season, Zaha has started 13 out of 15 games for Charlotte. The former Manchester United, Crystal Palace and Lyon player has scored three goals and made one assist.

Zaha leaves with an impressive record, being the fifth all-time contributor in Charlotte FC history with 27 direct goal involvements.

The winger will return to his parent club, Galatasaray, upon the expiration of his loan deal.

Zaha experienced a limited stint at Manchester United early in his career, featuring just twice for the Red Devils’ first team.

It will be interesting to see what the future holds for the Ivory Coast international, who is now likely in the later years of his footballing journey.
