Arthur Okonkwo has been called up to the Nigeria national football team for the first time, following a series of impressive performances with Wrexham A.F.C. in the English Championship. The 24-year-old goalkeeper has been named in coach Éric Chelle’s squad for the upcoming Unity Cup in London.

This inclusion comes after FIFA officially cleared Okonkwo to represent Nigeria in April, paving the way for his selection. Wrexham A.F.C. celebrated this milestone by extending their congratulations on X, stating:

“Congratulations to Arthur Okonkwo on receiving his first call-up to the Nigeria squad ahead of the Unity Cup.”

The Super Eagles are set to commence their campaign at the Unity Cup with an opening match against Zimbabwe on Tuesday, May 26.
