Cedric Kaze and Ben Youssef Khalil are set to conclude their tenure as co-coaches of Kaizer Chiefs following the team’s upcoming match against Chippa United. The duo assumed their roles midway through the season after the departure of Nasredine Nabi.
Despite guiding the team to a commendable third place finish in the Premier Soccer League (PSL) standings, the co-coaches have not secured the confidence of the club’s hierarchy to retain their positions on a full-time basis. This third-place finish marks a significant turnaround for Chiefs, who had not achieved such a position in the previous three seasons.
Historically, Chiefs have struggled to break into the top eight in prior competitions, making this season’s performance a noteworthy achievement. Both Kaze and Khalil have expressed aspirations to further improve the team during their time at the club.
The upcoming game against Chippa United at Moses Mabhida Stadium is expected to be a mere formality, as the third-place finish is already secured. It will also mark the final appearance of Kaze and Khalil in the Chiefs dugout.
