As global football transfer windows near, Major League Soccer (MLS) has announced an early departure. The league’s secondary transfer window opens on Monday, July 13, and extends through Wednesday, September 2, coinciding with the closures of top leagues worldwide.
Former Manchester United star Wilfried Zaha, who joined Charlotte FC in January 2025, will leave when his deal expires on June 30, 2026.
“Wilfried has been an important part of Charlotte FC since his arrival on loan last winter and has played a key role in our attack since joining,” said Zoran Krneta, the club’s General Manager, as reported on Charlotte FC’s official website.
“Last season, Wilf helped us reach the top four in the Eastern Conference for the first time, and he approached every match with a hunger and desire to perform for our supporters.
“Everyone at Charlotte FC thanks Wilfried for his contributions to the Club, and we all wish him and his family continued success throughout the rest of his career.”
During the 2026 MLS season, Zaha has started 13 out of 15 games for Charlotte, contributing three goals and one assist. He leaves as the fifth all-time contributor in Charlotte FC history with 27 direct goal involvements.
Upon the expiration of his loan, Zaha will return to his parent club, Galatasaray.
Zaha’s early career at Manchester United was uneventful, with only two appearances for the squad. The future remains unclear for the Ivory Coast international as he approaches the later stages of his footballing journey.
