Chris Brady Selected for USMNT World Cup Roster

We are under a month away until the start of the 2026 FIFA World Cup to be hosted in North America. Over a month’s span from June to mid-July, 48 nations will battle to be crowned World Cup champion. It’s the biggest soccer stage in the world and a significant opportunity for players.

One of the players that will reportedly have that opportunity is Chicago Fire goalkeeper Chris Brady.

While the United States Men’s National team is set to announce the roster in the coming days, a report on Saturday suggests that Brady is one of the players that have made the roster.

The 2026 Summer will be the most important one in US Soccer history. This is the “Golden Generation” in terms of talent, but the struggles have been present. The United States reached the knockout round of the 2022 World Cup, but with this being on home soil, they need to have a good showing.

As for Brady, the report from The Guardian lists him among the 26 players who have made the roster. The Daily Herald later confirmed the report of Brady making the roster.

The Naperville native currently plays for the Chicago Fire and has been one of the top keepers in all of MLS this season. He hasn’t yet appeared in a match for the U.S. National team, and heading into this World Cup cycle, he’s expected to be third on the depth chart behind Matt Turner and Matt Freese.

Brady is a homegrown talent for the Fire and has appeared in over 100 matches for them. That includes 13 this season, making 39 saves and allowing 15 goals.

The keeper situation for the United States is a little murky. Former keeper Brad Friedel offered his thoughts on the potential that Brady can have:

“If he makes the roster, I think Chris Brady, the goalkeeper, is superb,” Friedel exclusively told The U.S. Sun.

However, he’s unlikely to start unless Turner and Freese really struggle in training or in a match. The United States will officially announce the roster on Tuesday.
