Barcelona midfielder Gavi has expressed his belief that disciplinary measures should have been enforced against Real Madrid‘s Aurélien Tchouaméni following a recent altercation with teammate Federico Valverde. In an interview with Mundo Deportivo, Gavi shared his perspective on the incident, emphasizing that the situation was not handled appropriately by Real Madrid’s head coach Álvaro Arbeloa.
Gavi stated, “Tchouaméni-Valverde? If you got into a fistfight, in my opinion, the coach should NOT have let you play the next match. If that’s true… then, for me, it was a mistake to allow (Tchouaméni) to play in El Clásico. But honestly, I don’t know what actually happened,” highlighting his concerns over the matter.
Following the incident, Real Madrid’s management decided to impose a fine of €500,000 on both Tchouaméni and Valverde. The players subsequently issued apologies to each other, indicating a move towards resolution after the altercation.
