Manchester City Prioritizes Elliot Anderson in Summer Transfer Goals

Manchester City’s top transfer target this summer is Nottingham Forest midfielder Elliot Anderson. The interest in Anderson has been well established, while Chelsea’s Enzo Fernandez has also been linked to a potential move to the club. Reports indicate that Manchester City’s rumored next manager, Enzo Maresca, is interested in bringing Fernandez on board; however, recent updates suggest that a transfer for the Chelsea midfielder is ruled out.

In a new report by Jack Gaughan featured in the Daily Mail, it is confirmed that Anderson remains Manchester City’s primary target for the summer transfer window. Moreover, the report highlights that Anderson prefers a move to Manchester City over other clubs, including Manchester United. Nottingham Forest values Anderson at over £100 million, and as of now, no agreement has been reached between City and Nottingham Forest regarding a transfer fee.

Gaughan’s report also indicates that Manchester City is no longer pursuing a summer transfer for Enzo Fernandez. Chelsea is expected to demand a similar fee to Anderson’s for their World Cup-winning midfielder.

While Manchester City’s intentions regarding Anderson have been evident, there is a growing sentiment that the club might need to secure two midfielders this summer. With Bernardo Silva’s departure from City, Anderson’s dynamic skill set would significantly enhance the team’s midfield. City appears to be actively negotiating with Nottingham Forest in hopes of finalizing a deal ahead of the upcoming World Cup.

According to Gaughan, Fernandez is no longer a viable option for City, likely due to Chelsea’s asking price. The prospect of spending nearly £200 million on two midfielders poses challenges for Manchester City. Although Fernandez would complement the team’s style and bring valuable contributions, current circumstances suggest that the move has been dismissed for now.

As Manchester City pushes forward in its pursuit of Elliot Anderson, the focus remains firmly on securing their top priority while other options may be explored if City seeks another midfielder.
