Micky van de Ven’s Future at Tottenham Remains Uncertain Amid Liverpool Interest

Micky van de Ven, described as the best Premier League defender recently by Tottenham Hotspur boss Roberto De Zerbi, is reportedly unhappy at Tottenham following another season battling for Premier League survival and is pushing for a move away.

Several clubs across Europe are vying for the Tottenham star’s signature. Van de Ven has been linked with moves to Barcelona, Real Madrid, Manchester United, and Liverpool, among others, but he remains contracted to White Hart Lane until 2029. This strengthens Tottenham’s negotiating position significantly. The centre-back is seen as a crucial part of Spurs’ long-term plans, and the club’s stance remains resolute.

Liverpool has intensified their pursuit of the 25-year-old defender, viewing him as a potential replacement for their captain, Virgil van Dijk, who is 34 years old and past his prime. The club, managed by Arne Slot, has received a boost in their hopes to secure the Tottenham defender.

Latest Update on Micky van de Ven’s Future from Ben Jacobs

Transfer expert Ben Jacobs indicates that Van de Ven would be willing to join Liverpool this summer if they actively enter the transfer race. Should Tottenham avoid relegation, Jacobs expects the central defender to sign a new contract. Van de Ven has enjoyed playing under De Zerbi; however, he would seek a move away from N17 if Spurs were to drop down a division.

“If Tottenham stay up, I think Micky van de Ven will likely sign a new deal,” Jacobs said on The United Stand.

“I have said before on the show that if Liverpool enters that race, Van de Ven would want to join Liverpool, but they haven’t entered that race.

“So, let’s kind of be a bit patient on that one because Van de Ven is only focused on trying to keep Tottenham up at this stage.

“From what I gather, he really enjoys playing under Roberto De Zerbi, but he’s not necessarily the kind of player that wants to drop into the Championship, even if he likes the manager.”
