Zlatan Ibrahimovic Teams Up with Tyson Fury to Pursue Ownership of Morecambe FC
Zlatan Ibrahimovic, who played for Manchester United from 2016 to 2018, aimed for success at Old Trafford during his tenure. The Swedish forward netted 29 goals and contributed nine assists while at the club. He also celebrated team victories with the Europa League, League Cup, and Community Shield, all occurring in the 2016/17 season.
After departing from Manchester United, Ibrahimovic signed with LA Galaxy, where he made 58 appearances and scored 53 goals. He later wrapped up his playing career at AC Milan before retiring in 2023.
Following his retirement, he took on the role of a senior advisor at AC Milan, working closely within the club’s organizational framework, although he did not hold a position on the managerial staff.
Recent reports from The Sun indicate that Ibrahimovic is now exploring football ownership. He reportedly intends to join forces with Tyson Fury to purchase non-league side Morecambe FC.
The pair have been photographed together, leading to speculation that they were announcing a fight against one another. However, The Sun clarifies that they were, in fact, filming an advertisement for the upcoming World Cup, set to take place in North America shortly.
Sources told The Sun about their potential ownership bid, stating, “They were in Warsaw filming an advert for the World Cup. Tyson was talking to him about buying his local hometown club Morecambe FC. They want to buy the club and make a Netflix documentary called Rise of Morecambe together.”
“Just like Ryan Reynolds did with Wrexham. They both understand what it takes to achieve success. They had a great time filming the ad, which involved Tyson’s food and drink brand, Furocity. They even went to dinner together afterward. Tyson and Zlatan have been great friends for years; Zlatan used to work out with Tyson when he played for Manchester United.”
Morecambe FC has faced challenges in recent years, experiencing a drop from League One to the National League North within just four seasons. The club was previously owned by Jason Whittingham before being sold to Panjab Warriors last summer, a transition that offered little relief.
It remains uncertain whether Ibrahimovic and Fury will proceed with their ownership plans, but a decision could be forthcoming in the next few months.
