Yamal’s Barcelona could secure La Liga title in front of Mbappe’s Real Madrid face

With the 2024-25 La Liga season nearing its end, there’s a plausible scenario in which Lamine Yamal’s Barcelona could secure the league title in front of Kylian Mbappe’s Real Madrid.

As the 2024-25 season nears its conclusion, Spain’s La Liga title race is heating up, with FC Barcelona currently leading the charge. With just nine games remaining, Lamine Yamal’s Barcelona could have the opportunity to lift the league trophy in front of Kylian Mbappe’s Real Madrid.

Barcelona have been flawless since the start of 2025, going on an unbeaten run of 20 matches with 17 wins and 3 draws across La Liga, the UEFA Champions League, Copa del Rey, and the Spanish Super Cup — a trophy they secured by defeating Real Madrid.

They also boast the highest points total in La Liga for 2025, with 28 points from 10 matches (9 wins and 1 draw), propelling them to the top of the table. Barcelona currently sit on 66 points, with Real Madrid in second place on 63, followed by Atletico Madrid, who have struggled to keep pace, now at 57 points.

How could Barcelona celebrate La Liga in front of Real Madrid?

Barcelona are set to host Real Madrid at the Nou Camp on May 11th for Matchday 35, just five games before the season concludes. With the right results, the home side could secure the La Liga title in front of Mbappe and his teammates.

Before facing Real Madrid, Barcelona will host three matches (against Real Betis, Celta Vigo, and RCD Mallorca) and travel for two away games (against Leganes and Real Valladolid). In contrast, Los Blancos will play three home games (against Valencia, Athletic Bilbao, and Celta Vigo) and two away games (against Deportivo Alaves and Getafe).

To secure the title in El Clasico, Barcelona must win all their remaining matches, including the one against Real Madrid. In this scenario, Los Blancos would need to either lose at least one game or draw three. With a nine-point gap and just three games remaining, along with Barcelona’s superior goal difference (+54 compared to Real Madrid’s +33), Barcelona would mathematically seal the La Liga crown.

While it would be a challenging feat for Yamal and his teammates to clinch the trophy in front of their long-time rivals, the odds remain favorable. With two wins over Real Madrid already this season and 11 victories in their last 12 matches, the Catalan giants are in great form and well-positioned to make this remarkable achievement a reality.
