Chennaiyin FC has appointed Clifford Miranda as its first Indian head coach in the Indian Super League (ISL). This marks an important milestone for the club. Miranda, who recently ended his contract with Mumbai City, led Odisha FC to a historic victory in the 2023 Super Cup. He is recognized as the first Indian coach to secure a major title for an ISL club.
As a former player, Miranda has made a mark as a coach with clubs like FC Goa, Mohun Bagan Super Giant, and Odisha FC.
Chennaiyin’s move comes after a disappointing season and uncertainty about the league’s future following the departure of Owen Coyle in July 2025. Although the club temporarily halted activities, there are hopes that they will bounce back under Miranda’s guidance.
