Spain: Luka Zidane, son of French football legend Zinedine Zidane, has been called up to the Algerian national team for the 2026 World Cup qualifiers. The 27-year-old goalkeeper currently plays for Granada in Spain’s second division. He previously represented France at youth levels but officially switched to Algeria last month.

His decision reflects a connection to his family roots, as his father hails from Bejaia, a city in northern Algeria. Algeria is currently performing well in the qualifying group with 19 points. A win against Somalia or Uganda will secure their spot in the 2026 World Cup.

Luka began his career at Real Madrid‘s academy and played for the senior team during the 2017-18 season.
