Hyderabad: In the fourth season of the R.R. Kabel Prime Volleyball League powered by Skappia, Ahmedabad Defenders achieved a remarkable victory over Delhi Thunders. After losing the first two sets, Ahmedabad came back to win with scores of 13-15, 13-15, 15-13, 15-8, 18-16. Delhi started strong with Jesús Chaurio’s impressive performance in the first set, showcasing some excellent rallies. Chaurio and Muhammad Jasim’s blocks helped Delhi dominate. Jasim’s super spike gave Delhi a good lead. Ahmedabad struggled due to several service errors, with a critical mistake from Batru Batsuri giving Delhi the first set.

In the second set, contributions from Angamuthu’s spikes gave Ahmedabad hope. Carlos Berios’s excellent blocks kept them in the game. They clawed back from a four-point deficit. Anu James’s powerful smash secured Delhi’s control, but Ahmedabad managed to catch up after a super point. Jasim took the lead for Delhi again with another super spike, sealing the second set for them after Angamuthu’s service error.

In the third set, Chaurio gave Delhi a strong beginning, followed by Anu James’s superb serve that increased their lead. Shawn T. John also delivered a strong serve, making the match exciting. However, a service error hindered their momentum. Chaurio shone again, helping Delhi maintain their lead. A super spike from Muhammad Jasim secured Delhi’s dominance, but Shawn T. John’s powerful smash was out of bounds. In a dramatic turn, Ahmedabad took the set with a brilliant spike from Akh.

During the fourth set, Sakhlain Tariq provided Delhi with the first point through a strong serve. Chaurio’s elegant finishing moved them ahead. He kept the momentum, and with Carlos Berios contributing on attack, Delhi found their rhythm. Meanwhile, Ahmedabad stood firm with Batsuri’s notable performance. Shawn’s smash helped them level the game. Subsequently, Ahmedabad took the lead and won the fourth set 13-8 with Angamuthu’s astounding smash.

In the fifth set, Ahmedabad took the early lead with Shawn’s attack, but Abhinav’s net error gave Delhi a point. Anu’s serve also hit the net. Batsuri’s attack allowed Ahmedabad to recover. A fierce battle ensued, with Akh creating gaps in the defense to push Ahmedabad forward. Following a missed attack from Chaurio, Delhi regained the lead. Delhi made a comeback with George Antony’s super serve. Angamuthu’s powerful spike energized Ahmedabad, but Delhi also secured a super point. A service error from Chaurio brought Ahmedabad close again. Both teams faced several failed serves, keeping the game tight. In the end, Ahmedabad took the match with Abhinav’s winning block.

This evening (Sunday) at 6:30 PM, Kolkata Thunders will compete against Bengaluru Torpedoes, followed by Kochi Blue Spikers facing Goa Guardians at 8:30 PM.
