Inter Miami player Jordi Alba has announced his retirement from professional football. He will end his career at the conclusion of the 2025 Major League Soccer (MLS) season. The 36-year-old left-back shared the news on his Instagram page, indicating that he feels it’s time to close a significant chapter of his life and start a new one with peace and happiness.
Alba joined Inter Miami in 2023, reuniting with former FC Barcelona teammates Lionel Messi and Sergio Busquets. He played a key role in the team’s recent successes, including the Leagues Cup and the Supporters’ Shield.
Alba’s career for Spain, from 2011 to 2023, includes 93 appearances and notable achievements. He played a vital role in Spain’s victory at the 2012 European Championship and had an impressive 11-year career at Barcelona, winning six La Liga titles and the UEFA Champions League in 2015. Although Alba initially planned to extend his contract until 2027, he chose to retire early to spend more time with his family.
