Kannur: The Kannur Warriors Football Club has introduced a unique mascot, marking a first for clubs in the Super League in Kerala. The mascot was unveiled at an event held at the Chovva Secura Mall. Present at the ceremony were director C.A. Muhammad Salih, head coach Manuel Sanchez, and team captains, including Eenstein Lovesamb, Ubaid C.K., and midfield star Asiar Gomez. The mascot, named Veeran, is a tiger.
Veeran is named in honor of the warriors of Kannur. The region has a rich history of battles against various rulers and is known as the birthplace of Kalaripayattu, one of the oldest martial arts in the world. The stories of these brave figures continue to play a significant role in local folklore.
Kannur was also active in the freedom struggle, with several farmer-labor movements and protests taking place in the area, reinforcing its legacy of resilience. Veeran will serve as a source of excitement for fans during home matches and other events organized by the Kannur Warriors.
The club also indicated that Veeran symbolizes the strength, courage, and determination of Kannur. All players of Kannur Warriors FC are expected to embody this spirit as they compete. Fans can participate in penalty shootout events held every Saturday and Sunday at Payyambalam Beach from 4 PM to 6 PM, and at Secura Mall from 6 PM to 8 PM. Winners will receive special prizes from Kannur Warriors.
