Laporta stated that Messi, one of the club’s most iconic players, truly deserves this recognition. He compared Messi to other club legends like Cruyff and Kubala, who already have statues at the stadium.
Laporta mentioned that the design for the statue will be developed in consultation with Messi’s family. This announcement comes shortly after the newly renovated stadium will welcome Messi for a visit.
