Salah did not play in the 2-0 win against West Ham United and later came on as a substitute in the 1-1 draw against Sunderland. After the Sunderland match, van Dijk stated that every player must perform at their best each week.
“You don’t have unlimited credit,” he added. While he praised Salah as a fantastic player and crucial leader, he noted that the 33-year-old must raise his performance level.
Currently, Liverpool sits ninth in the league with 22 points from 14 matches, trailing league leaders Arsenal by 11 points.
