Manchester City defeated Sunderland 3-0 in a Premier League match at the Etihad Stadium, moving up to second place in the points table. City now has 31 points, just two behind league leaders Arsenal, who lost to Aston Villa earlier today.
Goals from Ruben Dias (31st minute), Josko Gvardiol (35th minute), and Phil Foden (65th minute) secured a strong win for Pep Guardiola’s team. Sunderland struggled against City’s attack, failing to make a single shot on target in the first half.
Ryan Scherki set up the opening goal with a precise pass to Dias, who struck a powerful shot from outside the penalty area, hitting the top corner of the net. This was Dias’s second goal of the season. Just four minutes later, Foden’s corner was headed in by Gvardiol, marking his second goal this season.
In the second half, another assist from Scherki (his fourth of the season) allowed Phil Foden to score his sixth goal, extending the lead to 3-0.
Sunderland attempted to bounce back with corners and free kicks in the final moments but could not find the target. In injury time, substitute Luke O’Nien received a red card, leaving them with ten players to finish the match.
