A recent report from French outlet Ouest-France suggests that Celtic has reached an agreement with Lorient for Joel Mvuka. The Norwegian player is excited about the move, as he seeks more playing time to enhance his chances of being selected for the World Cup.
The 23-year-old winger started his career at Asane before joining their senior team in 2019. In 2021, he helped Bodø/Glimt win the Eliteserien title, showcasing his talent on the field. Mvuka transferred to Lorient for €5.5 million in 2023 but was loaned to Young Boys for the latter half of the 2023-24 season.
During his loan, he contributed to Young Boys winning the Swiss Super League, yet the club chose not to make the transfer permanent. Mvuka returned to Lorient for the 2024-25 season, where he played in Ligue 2 after the team was relegated the previous year.
Though he scored three goals and provided one assist in 30 appearances, Lorient quickly secured promotion back to the top division. Currently, Mvuka’s playing time is limited as he ranks behind Théo Le Bris. With only five starts in 15 matches this season, he has not contributed any goals or assists in Ligue 1 so far.
