Since his return from the Africa Cup of Nations, Mohamed Salah has regained his spot in Arne Slot’s Liverpool lineup.
Before representing Egypt, Salah made headlines by publicly criticizing the club and was left out of the Champions League match against Inter Milan.
Despite rumors of a potential move in 2026, he remained at Anfield during the winter transfer window.
Slot has consistently included him in the starting XI since his return, but at 33 years old, his performance has not met expectations.

This season, Salah has scored six goals and provided six assists, but he is no longer the club’s top scorer; that title now belongs to Hugo Ekitike.
Supporters have also noted some concerns about his overall performance.
In a recent match against Newcastle, one moment stood out as he was chased down by Kieran Trippier after a clear chance on goal.
Toni Kroos commented on Luppen TV, saying, “In the first half, it was clear that his top speed isn’t what it used to be. With Salah, you always felt he was faster with the ball than without, but that seems to have changed.”
Is Mohamed Salah facing a reduced role at Liverpool?
As summer approaches, interest from the Saudi Pro League in Salah continues. This time, Liverpool might actually consider letting him go as they look to change their strategy.
The introduction of Jeremy Jacquet could lead Slot to adopt a back five, utilizing wing-backs for speed and width.
This transition would enable Alexander Isak and Hugo Ekitike to play together once Isak returns from injury.
Liverpool is also reportedly interested in 19-year-old RB Leipzig player Yan Diomande, who has achieved a top speed of 36.01 km/h in the Bundesliga this season.
