With the transfer window closed, Chelsea now focuses on their upcoming match. They will begin the second half of their season with a Carabao Cup semi-final on Tuesday night.

Mamadou Sarr is the only new player, having returned from loan at Strasbourg. Coach Liam Rosenior wanted to add strength to both defence and midfield, but no deals were completed.

Despite hopes to enhance the squad’s depth, nothing came through before the deadline. Now, Rosenior’s attention is fully on the upcoming match.

The team is expected to stay the same as the last match, even with concerns about player fatigue, including Enzo Fernandez.

Rosenior has made a strong impression early in his tenure, regardless of the outcome tonight. The atmosphere at the club has notably improved.

Marc Cucurella spoke to Sky Sports about the difference between Rosenior and the previous coach, Enzo Maresca. He noted that Rosenior has instilled a fresh sense of belief in the team.

Cucurella remarked, “Yeah, very good. They bring a lot of energy. They provide confidence that some players lacked before. We can improve many things, and while we don’t have much time to train, we’re working to understand his ideas.”

Marc Cucurella’s response challenges Gary Neville’s view

Although Cucurella believes the mood in the squad has improved, especially for those who faced challenges under Maresca, Gary Neville holds a different opinion about Alejandro Garnacho.

Neville discussed Garnacho on his Sky Sports podcast, expressing concern for the young player’s confidence at Chelsea. He stated, “As a young player at Chelsea, he looked shot to pieces in terms of his confidence.”

However, it hasn’t all been negative for Garnacho. He scored twice in the first leg against Arsenal, which is why Chelsea still has a chance heading into tonight’s match. Rosenior’s side must secure a win.
