James Harden is reportedly seeking a trade again. The former MVP has asked for a move, and the Los Angeles Clippers are looking into their options.

NBA insider Tomer Azarly stated that Harden wanted a two-year, $80 million contract extension.

However, the Clippers are focused on maintaining cap space and flexibility for 2027, leading them to decline the offer, which prompted Harden to request a trade.

Kawhi Leonard responded to this situation by staying reserved and expressing support for both sides involved.

Kawhi Leonard Supports James Harden, Trusts the Clippers

“I have no comment on it. I respect his decision, or whoever’s decision it is. That’s it. He’s still going to be my boy. I trust the front office,” Leonard said, according to Clippers reporter Farbod Esnaashari.

At 36, Harden has been playing at an All-Star level for the Clippers this season, averaging 25.4 points, 8.1 assists, and 4.8 rebounds. He remains capable of contributing to a successful team.

However, considering his age, contract, and history of team changes, it may be challenging for any franchise to meet his trade demands.

The trade deadline on February 5 is approaching, and with major players like Giannis Antetokounmpo and Anthony Davis in focus, the Clippers might have to accept less for the future Hall of Famer.

Since they don’t possess their first-round pick, the Clippers have no reason to consider a rebuild, complicating Harden’s request further.
