The Philadelphia Union has signed Colombian defender Geiner Martinez from CA Juventud in Uruguay.

The 23-year-old center back is contracted until the end of the 2027-28 season, with options to extend through 2029-30.

Martinez has scored four goals in 51 matches with Juventud and Central EspaƱol in Uruguay. He played a key role in helping Juventud earn promotion and qualify for the 2026 Copa Libertadores.

Philadelphia head coach Bradley Carnell commented, “Geiner is a young, strong player who adds intensity and physicality to our defense. His experience from earning promotion in back-to-back seasons is important; he is a competitor dedicated to our defensive philosophy. We are eager to integrate him into the team quickly.”

The Union will kick off the 2026 MLS regular season against D.C. United on February 21.
