Steve Kerr addressed the rumors regarding a potential trade of Draymond Green from the Golden State Warriors.

Green has been linked to trade talks recently, especially following a report from ESPN noting that he was involved in discussions to acquire Giannis Antetokounmpo. Earlier reports indicated that the Warriors were hesitant to part with Green.

Kerr confirmed that Green’s name has come up in trade discussions, which he noted had not happened during his tenure as head coach for over a decade.

“This is probably the first time, I would say, since I’ve been here that his name has ever really been mentioned in trade talks,” Kerr remarked. “So it’s different. But it’s also part of the league. It’s part of almost every player’s journey in this league.”

With the Warriors’ championship window nearing its end, Kerr has been frank this season. There are also whispers about the team possibly moving on from him after the current season.

Kerr reportedly discussed Green’s uncertain future with him last week. Green downplayed the trade rumors, saying it’s “part of the business” if a trade occurs.

Kerr mentioned that while the Warriors’ management considers his views on trades, he doesn’t have a definitive role in team roster decisions.

The Warriors face competition for acquiring Giannis, with another unexpected team from the Eastern Conference appearing as a strong candidate ahead of the trade deadline. Recent trade activities have led some to speculate that Antetokounmpo might end up with a different team than the Warriors.
