Juan Carlos Ferrero unfollows Carlos Alcaraz and two members of his team

After parting ways with Juan Carlos Ferrero, Alcaraz won the Australian Open, becoming the youngest player to achieve a Career Slam.

This marks the first title Alcaraz has secured without Ferrero, now coached by Samuel Lopez.

Alcaraz has received numerous messages of support following his significant win, but not everyone is celebrating.

Just days after his seventh major title, former coach Ferrero has unfollowed him on Instagram.

Ferrero also unfollowed Alcaraz’s physio and fitness coaches, while continuing to follow Lopez.

Fans speculate on Ferrero’s Instagram unfollow

The reason behind Ferrero’s decision to unfollow Alcaraz remains unclear, but fans have some theories.

Toni Nadal, Rafael Nadal’s former coach, criticized Alcaraz for not mentioning Ferrero in his post-match speech.

Nadal said, “It bothered me, you cannot forget Juan Carlos’ work all those years.”

After the unfollow, one fan suggested this might be the reason, asking, “Is he upset that Alcaraz didn’t mention him in his AO speech?”

Many fans seemed to agree that Ferrero might find it difficult to see Alcaraz succeed without him.

One user commented, “It’s possibly just too painful for Juan Carlos to watch. You can be happy for someone while still feeling hurt.”

Another agreed, saying, “Probably just too painful to watch, is my guess.”

Currently, Ferrero is exploring golf, and there are no indications of a reconciliation with Alcaraz.

Alcaraz will continue training with Lopez, with his next tournament at the Qatar Open.
