Manchester United has not made any first-team signings this January, but they have secured a promising young player.
Michael Carrick’s team didn’t sign anyone new, but many appreciate Ineos’ cautious approach. This may lead to a stronger summer transfer window.
Ineos’ involvement is changing the club’s recruitment strategy. There’s a clear focus on younger players and developing the academy.
Recently, HarwickSports confirmed United’s signing of 19-year-old goalkeeper Solomon Honor from Blackburn Rovers.

During January, the club primarily focused on loaning out academy players, but signing Honor strengthens their goalkeeper options.
Honor will join Travis Binnion’s Under-21 squad.
He developed at Manchester City’s academy, playing for the Under-18s before joining Blackburn Rovers in 2021.
At Blackburn, he progressed from Under-18s to Under-21s and gained experience through two loan spells.
He briefly played at Clitheroe in 2024 and then spent the 2024/25 season on loan at Atherton Collieries, extending his initial one-month deal.
Honor will be joining his brother Zico, who is already part of United’s program.

Securing a spot in the first team at United is challenging, given the existing competition.
Senne Lammens, signed from Royal Antwerp in the summer, has made a strong impression at 23 and looks set for a long-term position.
Radek Vitek, currently on loan at Bristol City and 22 years old, is also performing well and will be aiming for a first-team role upon his return.
Among the academy players, Elyh Harrison, William Murdock, and Dermot Mee have all made appearances this season. Honor will need to earn his place among them.
