Bruno Fernandes and Casemiro have performed well for Manchester United this season as the team aims for a top four finish in the Premier League.

The two players, working from different midfield positions, have become key parts of the team’s overall strategy.

They have created 97 chances and made 90 assists between them, showing their impact on both offense and defense.

Additionally, their experience has been essential in helping younger players at Manchester United reach the standards needed for success in the league.

However, the two players have lost £19.9 million due to taxes, according to the Telegraph’s 2026 Tax List.

They are among the top ten highest-paid players in the Premier League for 2026 and have made significant contributions to the tax system.

The figures were compiled from various taxes, including corporation tax, dividend tax, capital gains tax, and income tax, as well as payroll taxes and duties on gambling and alcohol, based on company accounts filed until January 10 this year.

Regarding player earnings, an accounting firm that represents over 100 footballers in the Premier League and Championship noted: “The earnings figures you see in the media or on reputable sports websites are mostly correct.”

“However, these numbers generally reflect only basic salaries.

“They usually do not include loyalty bonuses or extra payments when a team qualifies for the Champions League.

“Players also earn income from clubs for image rights, like sales of merchandise that feature their name or image.

“This additional income can add £5 million to £10 million for top players.”

It’s not just players who pay taxes; co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe also has tax obligations.

Last year, he faced controversy related to his ownership of Manchester United, but that issue has now settled.

With Fernandes and Casemiro affected by taxation, it will be interesting to see how this impacts their performance moving forward.
