On the Transfer Insider podcast, journalist Pete O’Rourke reported that Manchester City is interested in Newcastle United midfielder Sandro Tonali. He mentioned, “There’ll be lots more speculation regarding Sandro Tonali. That news on Deadline Day was probably just the start of it.”
O’Rourke highlighted ongoing rumors about Tonali possibly leaving, with discussions about a return to Italy involving AC Milan and Juventus, along with talk of homesickness.
Although Tonali had a strong start to the season, his performance has dropped slightly recently. However, he remains an important player for Eddie Howe’s team.
Howe is likely to want to retain Tonali and build the squad around him, as his departure would be a significant loss for Newcastle.
Other Premier League clubs, including Arsenal, have shown interest in Tonali, especially after the recent transfer deadline.
Manchester City is also keeping an eye on his situation, should the opportunity arise for him to leave St James’ Park.
Tonali’s Solid Performance in the Premier League
Tonali is having a strong season at Newcastle, contributing several impressive performances in midfield. The Italian international has provided five assists in 36 appearances across various competitions this season.
At 25 years old, he is considered one of the top central midfielders in the Premier League, making Manchester City’s interest in him understandable.
