Chelsea did not acquire any players during the January transfer window but made a notable change by replacing Enzo Maresca with Liam Rosenior as head coach.
Rosenior has quickly made an impact at Stamford Bridge, leading the team to seven wins in his first nine matches, with the only two losses occurring against Arsenal in the Carabao Cup semi-finals.
Despite the good performances, injury issues are increasing. In January, Chelsea created a shortlist of three centre-backs to target for the summer transfer window.
Their first choice was Jeremy Jacquet, who has already committed to joining Liverpool next season. The other two options were Jacobo Ramon from Como and Marcos Senesi from Bournemouth.

Senesi has made 115 appearances for Bournemouth since joining from Feyenoord in 2022, establishing himself as a dependable figure in the defense. His current contract runs until the end of this season.
The Argentine defender will turn 29 next month. While this age may not align with Chelsea’s recent transfer approach, reports suggest they are still keen on him. Tutto Juve journalist Mirko Di Natale noted that the club is interested in bringing him aboard.
Chelsea is among seven clubs reportedly considering a move for Senesi. Borussia Dortmund is the latest club to reach out, with Everton, Brighton, and Crystal Palace also keeping an eye on him.
Di Natale shared on X: “Dortmund is the latest club to have inquired about Marcos Senesi. Juventus, Roma, Brighton, Chelsea, Everton, and Crystal Palace are the teams most interested.”
Chelsea might need Marcos Senesi’s experience at centre-back
Chelsea’s centre-back roster includes several young talents such as Levi Colwill, Tosin Adarabioyo, Trevoh Chalobah, Wesley Fofana, Mamadou Sarr, Benoit Badiashile, Aaron Anselmino, Josh Acheampong, and Jorrel Hato.
Anselmino is currently on loan, along with Axel Disasi, while Tosin is out due to injury. Other than Fofana and Chalobah, there are not many experienced leaders in defense.
Senesi might help fill this void. Acquiring him as a free agent would be a sensible move, providing Chelsea with much-needed experience in their defense if they choose to pursue him this summer.
