Manchester United is set to sign Colombian talent Cristian Orozco, who is progressing well ahead of his move to Old Trafford.

Orozco will officially join the club when he turns 18 in the summer of 2026, but United has already secured his agreement.

He had already impressed scouts prior to the Under-17s World Cup, and his performances during the tournament have strengthened United’s interest.

Orozco is currently under contract with Fortaleza, a top team in Colombian football, after previously playing for Rojo CF.

The 17-year-old recently made his senior debut for Fortaleza, coming on as a substitute late in the game.

He entered in the 83rd minute during a 4-1 defeat to Atletico Nacional. Despite limited playtime, he managed to take a shot, which was blocked, and completed all three of his passes.

Fortaleza, down to ten men during that match, is currently positioned 13th in the league, while Atletico Nacional sits fifth, with Alfredo Morelos, a former Rangers player, scoring twice.

Fortaleza’s next match is scheduled for Monday, where Orozco may have the chance to make his first appearance at home.

Cristian Orozco gaining experience ahead of Manchester United transfer

For Orozco, gaining senior match experience before joining Manchester United will be crucial for his growth.

The upcoming months will provide him with a good opportunity to play at a higher level before he arrives at United in July.

Initially, he will likely start with the academy and may get some preseason playing time.

In December, Orozco visited the club, attending a match at Old Trafford, touring Carrington, and participating in training sessions with the under-18s and under-21s.
