The absence of the duo in question has significantly hurt Tottenham.

Tottenham is facing challenges after the recent sacking of Thomas Frank. Nevertheless, fans remain hopeful for stability in the team’s injury situation at Hotspur Way.

There is optimism that the next manager can bring stability to the club, whether in the short or long term. This topic has sparked discussions among supporters and analysts about potential candidates to succeed Frank.

Tottenham injury update: Potter provides news on Kulusevski and Bergvall

Tottenham may experience further issues during the March international break. The incoming manager faces challenges before even starting, as Sweden’s coach Graham Potter indicated that it might be difficult for Dejan Kulusevski and Lucas Bergvall to return for national duty next month.

Sweden is in group B4 of the UEFA Nations League, alongside Poland, Romania, and Bosnia & Herzegovina. Potter mentioned that the immediate focus is on the March match against Ukraine.

Potter expressed doubts about the availability of Kulusevski and Bergvall in a few weeks.

He stated to Sportbladet (via Sport Witness):

“It’s hard to say, there’s still time for them. They’re doing their rehabilitation well in the clubs. There’s still time. I hope so, but they have two big injuries. It will be tough to come back in March. They have good rehab staff behind them, so there’s a chance.”

“I have spoken to both of them. They are optimistic and are working very, very hard at their clubs to be able to play with us in March,”

He also mentioned Bergvall, stating:

“It’s a bit the same as for Alex and Dejan. There’s still some time left before the match against Ukraine, and it will be tough for them, but we’re hoping for them too.”

Author Opinion

Kulusevski has not played for Tottenham this season due to a serious injury he sustained in May 2025, shortly before the team won the Europa League against Manchester United. Although many hope for his return next month, Potter’s comments about the slim chances for the March 26 qualifier suggest a long recovery ahead.

Bergvall has participated more regularly this season with 26 appearances but faced an ankle injury in January.

For Tottenham, the immediate concern is less about Sweden’s campaign and more about how the new manager will handle these players and their injury issues during what is already a challenging season.
