Giannis Antetokounmpo shares thoughts on Messi vs Ronaldo’s greatness
The discussion about Messi and Ronaldo has been reignited as Giannis Antetokounmpo offered his perspective on both athletes.
The Bucks shared Giannis’s comments on Instagram, where he discussed the rivalry between the two football icons.
“I think Messi is pure talent. He has shown hard work and discipline throughout his career and has consistently remained at the top. He is probably the best player of all time,” Antetokounmpo stated.
He added: “I relate more to those who share my values, like hard work and discipline. I admire taking care of the body and staying consistent over many years.”
“He’s 41 years old now and still playing at a high level, so my mindset is closer to Cristiano Ronaldo’s,” he said.
Giannis highlighted the difference between natural talent and personal connection, recognizing Messi’s skills but placing more importance on mindset, longevity, and dedication.
Giannis Antetokounmpo explains why he prefers Cristiano Ronaldo
Giannis then explained why he leans toward Ronaldo in the Messi vs Ronaldo debate, focusing on the mindset that drives his own career.
“When it comes to the game, the love, consistency, and hard work—pushing to improve—I find myself more aligned with Ronaldo,” he shared.
“So, when you ask me that question, I say Ronaldo. But if you look at their careers, Messi has 8 Ballon d’Or awards and Ronaldo has 5. Messi won a World Cup, while Ronaldo has not, and so on. It really comes down to personal preference,” he concluded.
Giannis acknowledged Messi’s impressive record but framed the debate as a matter of preference. For him, Ronaldo’s discipline and focus resonate more with his own principles, even while recognizing Messi’s extraordinary achievements.
