Chris Paul has announced his retirement after a successful 21-year career. The 12-time All-Star and five-time assist champion made this decision after being traded from the Los Angeles Clippers to the Toronto Raptors during this year’s trade deadline.
Last season, Paul started all 82 games for the San Antonio Spurs. He aimed for one more season with the Clippers, the team he played for from 2011 to 2017. However, due to a poor start to the new season, he was sent home and later traded to Toronto. Rather than spend time on the bench, the 40-year-old chose to retire.
Throughout his career, Paul led the NBA in steals per game six times and was named to All-NBA teams 11 times. He also earned spots on nine All-Defensive teams.
Paul retires as one of the NBA’s top passers, with 12,552 assists, the second-most in history, and four games where he recorded 20 or more assists. Can you name all the players in NBA history who have achieved multiple 20-assist games within five minutes?
Good luck!
