Tottenham Eyes Bundesliga Defender

Igor Tudor is facing challenges as the interim head coach of Tottenham Hotspur.

The 47-year-old took over from Thomas Frank last week, with Spurs struggling in the Premier League. His appointment was considered unexpected by ESPN FC’s Don Hutchinson, but he previously kept Udinese in Serie A in 2018.

The situation at Tottenham is complicated, and Tudor’s task is to ensure they remain in the top flight. As he navigates this chaos, the futures of Cristian Romero and Micky van de Ven remain uncertain.

Romero made headlines recently by criticizing the club’s lack of ambition after the January transfer window, highlighting that they had only 11 fit players available against Manchester City. The Tottenham captain seems to be at a turning point in his career, with strong links to a move to La Liga. Meanwhile, Van de Ven has been performing steadily, catching the eye of Liverpool.

Tottenham Interested in RB Leipzig Defender

If Tottenham does not qualify for the Champions League, it’s likely that either Romero or Van de Ven, or both, will leave this summer. Consequently, Spurs are preparing for a future without their main central defenders.

According to a report from GIVEMESPORT, Tottenham is looking to sign RB Leipzig defender Castello Lukeba this summer.

Lukeba is regarded as one of Europe’s top defenders, comparable to Man City’s Josko Gvardiol, and he is having another strong season with RB Leipzig. He has scored once in 17 league appearances, helping his team to fifth place in the Bundesliga. Although he missed some matches due to a knee injury, he has recently returned to play.

Lukeba’s contract with RB Leipzig runs until 2029, but he has a £78m release clause. Despite this, the 23-year-old may still leave this summer as Leipzig struggles for Champions League qualification.

Several clubs are watching Lukeba’s situation closely, including Arsenal, Manchester United, Real Madrid, and Aston Villa, which means Tottenham will face stiff competition in their pursuit of the Lyon native.

It will be interesting to see if Tottenham intensifies their interest in Lukeba as a potential replacement for Van de Ven, particularly given that Lukeba is left-footed.
