Manchester United is actively searching for a new manager after parting ways with Ruben Amorim last month during a difficult season.
A series of inconsistent performances led to the Portuguese coach’s dismissal after just over a year at Old Trafford.
In his place, Michael Carrick has been appointed as caretaker manager to guide the team through the rest of the season, bringing a renewed focus to the squad.
The plan is for Carrick to lead the team with the goal of securing Champions League qualification, while a full-time manager is expected to be appointed before the start of the 2026/27 season.
This isn’t the first time United has sought a new manager; Amorim was hired in 2024 following Erik ten Hag’s exit.
Additionally, reports surfaced today that United reached out to former Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp in 2024 regarding the coaching position at Old Trafford.
However, Sky Sports has since reported that a spokesperson for Klopp denied these claims.
Manchester United has stated that there was no contact about hiring Klopp as their new manager.
Chelsea also rejected the claims made by Marc Kosicke, who said, “Both Chelsea and Manchester United inquired, even though Jurgen had clearly stated that he would not coach any other club in England.”
Kosicke added, “These inquiries keep coming. He’s very content with his achievements and is proud to be one of the few coaches to have managed only three clubs without being fired.”
With both Premier League teams denying these historical claims, the reasons behind Kosicke’s comments on this matter remain unclear.
