Mohamed Salah is contracted with Liverpool until 2027, but the club is starting to prepare for his eventual exit.

His future became a talking point earlier this season after he shared his thoughts following a 3-3 draw with Leeds United.

Since then, he has regained his place in the starting squad and has played in every match after returning from the Africa Cup of Nations.

However, interest from the Saudi Pro League remains, and it is still unclear if he will finish his contract or leave before then.

Several players have been suggested as potential replacements. Yan Diomande has frequently been mentioned as a candidate.

Additionally, Graeme Bailey has recently linked three more players from European teams.

Bailey reports that FSG is beginning to plan for life without Salah, considering four players for the future.

The shortlist includes Diomande, along with Nico Williams and PSG’s Désiré Doué and Bradley Barcola.

Liverpool has shown previous interest in Barcola. The PSG winger has performed well alongside Doué in Ligue 1, helping their team win the Champions League in 2025.

How Liverpool could benefit financially from Mohamed Salah’s departure

If Salah moves to Saudi Arabia this summer, Liverpool would likely receive a transfer fee, as he would still have one year left on his contract.

Even if he stays until 2027 and departs for free, it would lighten the burden on the club’s wage structure.

Salah currently earns £400,000 per week [Capology], making him the highest-paid player at the club following his contract renewal in 2025.

Over one year, this amounts to £20.8 million, funds that could be used for new signings or to meet another player’s salary.
