Tottenham will appoint a permanent head coach at the end of the season.
Igor Tudor has become the interim manager for Tottenham Hotspur until the season ends. He takes over from Thomas Frank and will lead the team in his first game against Arsenal in the North London derby this Sunday.
Tudor needs to make an immediate impact at White Hart Lane. His main goals include regaining support from disappointed fans and establishing authority in the locker room as the team aims to improve its league position. At 47, Tudor’s task is to steer Spurs away from the bottom of the Premier League and perform well in the UEFA Champions League.
Since Tudor is in charge only until the season wraps up, the club plans to appoint a permanent head coach in the summer. Spurs will assess the market for a new manager, with Mauricio Pochettino as a top candidate, while exploring other options as well.
Tottenham add Eddie Howe to managerial shortlist
As reported by TEAMtalk, Tottenham has included Newcastle United manager Eddie Howe on their list of potential candidates for the permanent role. His name has been discussed among the club’s decision-makers as they strategize for a replacement for Frank.
Howe has gained recognition over his four-and-a-half years at Newcastle, making him one of the longer-serving managers in the Premier League. He joined NUFC in November 2021, trailing only Mikel Arteta, Pep Guardiola, and Marco Silva in tenure.
When Howe took over at St James’ Park, the team was fighting relegation. In just two seasons, he led them to Champions League qualification and ended a 70-year trophy drought by winning the Carabao Cup last year.
This season, however, Howe is facing some pressure as Newcastle currently sits in 10th place in the Premier League. Despite this, there is no immediate risk of him losing his position.
By adding Howe to their shortlist, Tottenham acknowledges the strong reputation he has built through his work at Newcastle. He is seen as a coach who aligns well with Spurs’ long-term goals, focusing on player development and attacking football, along with significant Premier League experience.
However, as Howe remains dedicated to his project at St James’ Park and enjoys solid backing from the Newcastle leadership, Tottenham may find it challenging to convince him to make the move this summer.
