The star in question is ready to take the permanent Tottenham job in the summer.

After Thomas Frank’s dismissal last week, Tottenham Hotspur appointed Igor Tudor as their interim manager to help keep the team in the Premier League with 12 matches remaining this season.

Spurs are using this time to consider a long-term replacement, with several notable managers likely to be available at the end of the season. Mauricio Pochettino, Oliver Glasner, and Andoni Iraola will see their contracts expire, making them potential candidates for the head coach position.

Pochettino is still a contender for the role, but Spurs management plans to carefully evaluate options before making a permanent appointment. Robbie Keane, who had over 300 appearances for the club, was previously linked to the manager role before Tudor’s hiring.

Tottenham backed to appoint Robbie Keane as permanent head coach

Robbie Keane has been ruled out for the interim position after stating he would only consider a move from Ferencvaros in the summer for a permanent role. He expressed hesitation about leaving his current job with the Hungarian club.

Since taking over Ferencvaros in January 2025, Keane has led the team to win the Hungarian league title and is now focused on defending that crown. While he may not be a widely recognized name, his record with Ferencvaros is impressive.

Former Spurs player Bobby Zamora discussed Keane’s potential, stating, “Why not give it to Robbie Keane?” He has watched Keane’s growth as a coach, noting his successful coaching journey abroad.

Zamora added, “I think the fans would absolutely love to have him. He would get the time needed from the fans, which is important for any manager, especially at Spurs right now.”

Since retiring, Keane has established a strong coaching resume. He has not only won a title with Ferencvaros but also previously with Maccabi Tel Aviv in Israel. He has also guided Ferencvaros to the knockout stage of the Europa League.

With his accomplishments in Israel and Hungary, Keane appears ready for a chance at Tottenham. However, the club might prefer someone with more experience in English football as they consider their options.
