The latest update from Stamford Bridge is that Nicolas Jackson will return to Chelsea after his loan spell with Bayern Munich.
The Senegalese forward was signed from Villarreal in 2023 but had a challenging two seasons at Chelsea, leading to his loan after not consistently contributing to the team’s title ambitions.
During his time at Chelsea, Jackson was involved in 34 goals and assists in the Premier League but fell out of favor with the club and manager Enzo Maresca due to disciplinary issues and inconsistent performances.
His time at Bayern has seen little action, and now, after helping Senegal win the AFCON with two goals and one assist, he is set to return to Chelsea, where it seems he won’t fit into their long-term plans.
Despite a loan fee of £14 million, Bayern are not required to trigger his £56 million buy clause as he did not meet the necessary appearance benchmarks.
With Liam Rosenior now coaching the team and looking for long-term replacements, Jackson’s return to Chelsea might be brief.

Liam Rosenior’s Reformed Attack
Since taking over as head coach, Liam Rosenior has revamped the team into one of the more effective units in the Premier League, achieving eight wins in 11 matches and scoring 28 goals across competitions, despite limited time to implement his strategies.
With João Pedro consistently finding the net and Liam Delap assisting in their last match against Hull City, Chelsea’s attack is functioning effectively as a team.
This improved cohesiveness suggests the club has moved on from relying on individual talent, making Jackson’s potential return seem unlikely.
Additionally, Chelsea has signed striker Emanuel Emegha from Strasbourg, who is already familiar with Rosenior’s tactical style, indicating a shift towards players that meet the manager’s criteria.
As the club focuses on “system-ready” players, Jackson’s return appears to be less and less probable. Integrating him could prove challenging for Rosenior, given Jackson’s inconsistent finishing and decision-making, which may not align with the team’s current playing style.
