The 24-year-old forward had the opportunity to join Everton in 2017 but chose Tottenham Hotspur instead, feeling that Spurs offered him the best environment during his decision-making process.

“I excelled at playing as a striker. From a young age, I received internship offers from various clubs. I played for Manchester City, Tottenham Hotspur, Aston Villa, Everton, Wolverhampton Wanderers, and Celtic,” Parrott said.

“Some clubs did not accept me, but ultimately, I had to choose between Spurs, Everton, Wolves, and Celtic. Tottenham felt right. I was welcomed warmly, which is crucial at a young age.”

Parrott had a strong goal-scoring record with Tottenham’s youth teams, scoring 17 goals in 15 matches for the U18 squad, nine goals in nine U19 games, and five in 14 appearances for the U21 team. This performance earned him four senior appearances for Spurs.

However, the Dublin-born player struggled to get consistent playing time in the first team due to Harry Kane’s presence. He later gained valuable experience in the Netherlands with Excelsior and made his mark at AZ Alkmaar.

Why Troy Parrott’s past links to Everton might influence a potential move

If Everton considers signing Parrott this summer, his previous interest in the club could make him more open to a move to Hill Dickinson Stadium.

Other clubs seem less likely options. Wolves are entering the Championship and are unlikely contenders, while Spurs have sufficient attacking options with Dominic Solanke, Richarlison, and Mathys Tel.

Celtic might also struggle to meet his valuation, which is reported to be between £25 million and £30 million.

Everton could be an appealing option for Parrott, especially with David Moyes managing the team. This might present an opportunity for him to take on a role he turned down almost a decade ago.
