Sam Homewood has had several encounters with Sir Alex Ferguson during his time at Manchester United.
Even though Ferguson had retired when Homewood started at MUTV, his influence at Old Trafford remains strong.
Homewood recounted a moment when Ferguson humorously critiqued his podcast questions, calling them ‘rubbish,’ which Homewood sees as a career highlight.
In an interview with United In Focus, Homewood recalled, “The best time was when we were playing Leicester. I arrived at Old Trafford early and enjoyed sitting in the empty stand before the game.
“I was just sitting there when I noticed Sir Alex Ferguson doing an interview with BBC Sport in the corner of my eye.
“While they were setting up for some pictures, I watched him. Eventually, he noticed me looking, which felt a bit awkward. Instead of looking away like most would, I just kept staring. Finally, he broke the silence and remarked, ‘You ask some ridiculous questions in that podcast.’
Sam Homewood on the Podcast with Sir Alex Ferguson
Homewood participated in a podcast with Ferguson, which lasted over two hours.
It was clear this episode was special for Homewood. He shared, “We had a two-hour conversation with him.
“The podcast was enjoyable, but the build-up and the discussion we had were incredible. Afterward, we talked about the interesting stories we heard, and it was just a great experience.
“While moving around Old Trafford with Wes Brown, I’d see Ferguson, and if Wes stopped to chat, I’d find myself naturally joining the conversation.”
