Scott McTominay has seen significant growth since leaving Manchester United in the summer of 2024, now playing for Serie A champions Napoli.

He has played a crucial role in leading Napoli to their second Italian title in three years, earning the MVP and Player of the Season awards for his efforts.

In total, the 29-year-old has scored 23 goals and provided 10 assists in 70 matches since his departure from Old Trafford, contributing to their Supercopa Italiana victory earlier this season.

Given his strong performances, it’s clear that many in the football world are monitoring his situation, including potential interest from a return to Manchester United.

However, McTominay has addressed any rumors about leaving Napoli, clarifying his intentions about the future.

In an interview with Corriere dello Sport, he stated: “My agent hasn’t spoken to anyone about my future.”

He added: “He only communicates with the club and me. He hasn’t shared anything with the media.”

“I’m extremely happy here, and I consider myself a Napoli player; that’s what I focus on.”

“The future matters a lot, and I can see myself at Napoli for a long time.”

“My family is happy, I’m happy. It’s a wonderful time, and it’s been a different experience compared to the last year and a half.”

“As long as everyone in my life is happy, I am too.”

While McTominay’s plans are clear, Napoli remains open to offers for their star player if the right deal comes along.

In a recent interview, the club’s global business development officer, Leonardo Giammarioli, mentioned, “It’s a bit complicated for Serie A and our competitive clubs… the league is still making losses in revenue.”

He also remarked, “Of course, it’s hard to keep up with the other big four leagues, but we’re striving to improve and be competitive.”

“Retaining players is tough; it’s not easy to acquire them like McTominay and Billy Gilmour – and even harder to keep them.”

“We need to be strategic with our signings… every dollar we spend must make sense.”

So, while a move for McTominay doesn’t look imminent, a transfer for the right price could still happen in the future.
