Igor Tudor’s Tottenham reign starts with a heavy 4-1 loss to Arsenal

Tottenham faced a disappointing defeat in the North London Derby, losing 4-1 at home to Arsenal, raising further concerns about their chances in the Premier League.

Viktor Gyokeres scored twice, while Eberechi Eze added two more as Arsenal took advantage of a weak Spurs defense. Randal Kolo Muani’s goal offered brief hope in the first half, but it wasn’t enough.

Tottenham Hotspur Player Ratings

Guglielmo Vicario (5/10): Made some good saves that prevented a larger margin but was left vulnerable by the defense. He had little chance with any of the four goals, though his distribution was inconsistent under pressure.

Djed Spence (4/10): Had difficulty dealing with Arsenal’s attacks and contributed little to the offense. Frequently out of position and struggled to recover, particularly against Bukaoyo Saka.

Radu Dragusin (2/10): Endured a tough game in defense. He was repeatedly caught out, allowing Arsenal to break through with ease. Looked outmatched at this level.

Micky van de Ven (4/10): Tried hard but was often left isolated. His pace helped at times, but he spent more time covering for others than focusing on his own area.

Joao Palhinha (4/10): Struggled in a defensive role and didn’t meet the demands of Tudor’s system. Substituted in the 82nd minute with minimal impact.

Yves Bissouma (4/10): Failed to provide necessary midfield protection, was easily bypassed by Arsenal’s players, and did not create a solid defensive presence. He also received a yellow card.

Conor Gallagher (5/10): Displayed some urgency before being replaced by Solanke in the 62nd minute, but couldn’t turn the game in Spurs’ favor.

Pape Matar Sarr (4/10): Largely ineffective, having trouble getting involved and failed to contribute defensively. He was involved in the build-up to Arsenal’s first goal.

Xavi Simons (5/10): Had a few notable moments but was mostly absent in a match that did not suit him. He lost possession multiple times.

Randal Kolo Muani (7/10): The standout player for Spurs. He worked hard, held the ball well, and scored a goal. Thought he had another goal equalized, but it was ruled out for a foul on Gabriel. He was substituted in the 68th minute, perhaps too soon, as he was the only real threat.

Substitutes

Solanke (5/10): Came on at 62 minutes but had little impact as Spurs were on the back foot.

Richarlison (N/A): Substituted in the 68th minute when the result was already decided.

Tel (N/A): Came on in the 82nd minute, too late to make a difference.
