During the Transfer Insider podcast, journalist Pete O’Rourke stated that Chelsea aimed to sign Tottenham Hotspur player Lucas Bergvall in January. O’Rourke mentioned,

“If Tottenham misses out on Europe and continues to struggle, they might be more open to offers for their top players, and Bergvall is definitely part of that consideration.

“He’s a well-regarded player and has performed well since joining Tottenham.

“Currently, he’s sidelined with a long-term injury, which is a significant loss for Tottenham as they fight for survival.

“He is highly valued at Tottenham, with a contract lasting until 2031, so it wasn’t surprising that they turned down inquiries from Chelsea and Aston Villa during the January window.

“There was no chance they would let him go at that time. Tottenham view him as essential for their long-term plans.

“However, if Spurs keep struggling and potentially miss out on European football, other clubs may test their willingness to keep their top players, including Bergvall.”

Bergvall’s Impressive Form In North London

Bergvall showed his potential for the North London team before his injury. This season, the Swedish player has scored one goal and provided four assists in 26 matches for Tottenham across all competitions.
