Manchester United won 1-0 against Everton on Monday, February 23, thanks to a goal from Benjamin Sesko.
With this victory, United now has 48 points from 27 matches, placing them fourth in the Premier League. Under interim manager Michael Carrick, the team has secured five wins out of their last six matches, showing strong form.
Sesko scored the winning goal in the 71st minute, continuing to make an impact since Carrick took over. He has become one of the standout strikers in the league.
Sesko’s Impact as a Substitute
On Monday, Bryan Mbeumo started as the main striker while Sesko was on the bench. He came on later and scored the decisive goal, similar to his previous performance against West Ham United where he rescued a point for the team.
That goal against Everton marked Sesko’s eighth of the season in 24 matches. This is impressive, especially given that he hasn’t started many games and had a slow start earlier on.
Carrick’s coaching might be helping Sesko to improve his performance. Whatever the reason, Manchester United fans are pleased with his contributions.
Will Sesko Remain a Key Substitute?
Despite scoring against Everton, Sesko might not start in the next game. Mbeumo, Matheus Cunha, and Amad Diallo have all been performing well.
Mbeumo is the only United player with double-digit goals this season, playing in just 23 matches. Cunha has six goals and two assists in 26 games, showing great effort for the team. Amad has excelled as a right-winger, which is why Mbeumo has been starting as a center forward.
So, even after his goal against Everton, Sesko is likely to remain on the bench in the next match. This is unfortunate, as it limits his chances to further prove himself as a striker.
