Arsenal has had a strong 2025/26 season and aims for a historic quadruple. Despite facing injury challenges, the team has consistently bounced back from setbacks. Graeme Bailey from Teamtalk reports that Arsenal plans to secure a permanent deal for season-long loanee Piero Hincapie this summer.
Arsenal Moves for Permanent Deal with Piero Hincapie
Arteta’s Approval of Hincapie
Bailey indicates that Arsenal is set to sign Hincapie after his impactful performances since his arrival on September 1. Sporting director Andrea Berta made a crucial decision to enhance Arteta’s defensive lineup by bringing in Hincapie for a loan fee of £5.2 million, with a purchase option set at £45 million.
A source shared with Teamtalk that, while there has been no formal discussion about Hincapie’s future, the club is pleased with his impact. The source noted, “Piero has integrated well into the squad. The staff are excited about his progress.”
After recovering from an early groin injury, Hincapie has become a key player, making 15 starts and showing strong form, especially in the recent 4-1 victory against Tottenham Hotspur.
Buy Option and Arteta’s Praise
The £45 million purchase option seems like a smart move for Arsenal, who appear ready to make Hincapie a permanent addition this summer. His contributions have been crucial in filling gaps created by injured teammates.
A five-year contract is reportedly included in the original loan arrangement. With Arsenal competing for four major trophies, this season could be notable for Hincapie, who previously won the Bundesliga title with Leverkusen in the 2023/24 season.
Earlier this season, Arteta praised Hincapie, saying, “He’s a warrior. He brings intensity and physicality to the team. He’s also skilled on the ball, eager to learn and grow.”
“He can play in various positions, and we are working to get him at peak fitness, which will elevate the team’s performance.”
