Jonathan Kuminga made a strong impression in his debut with the Atlanta Hawks after struggling for playing time with the Golden State Warriors. In just 24 minutes, he scored 27 points, along with seven rebounds, four assists, and two steals, helping the Hawks secure a 119-98 victory over the Washington Wizards.

Jonathan Kuminga’s Future with the Hawks

Kuminga, selected as the No. 7 pick by the Warriors in 2021, faced challenges including injuries and inconsistent playtime due to coach Steve Kerr’s decisions. Following a lengthy holdout last summer, he signed a two-year contract, with a team option for the 2026-27 season.

After being benched early in December, it became evident that the Warriors viewed him mainly as a trade asset. That trade occurred at the deadline, sending Kuminga to the Hawks in exchange for Kristaps Porzingis.

Although he was still recovering from a knee injury post-trade, his performance in the Hawks’ game provided a glimpse of his potential.
