Manchester United is finding success under interim manager Michael Carrick, but the club is considering potential replacements, including Julian Nagelsmann and Roberto De Zerbi.
Transfer reporter Ben Jacobs shared insights on The United Stand, indicating that Nagelsmann is interested in moving to the Premier League this summer, likely after his World Cup duties with Germany. Both he and De Zerbi are expected to be on the club’s final list for managerial candidates.
De Zerbi has experience in the Premier League and performed well at Brighton before things took a downturn. He is a capable coach, but taking a chance on him could be risky as he has yet to prove himself at the highest level, often creating controversies during transfers, such as signing Mason Greenwood at Marseille.
Nagelsmann, however, is a more appealing option. He ranked among the top coaches at a young age while working with Ralf Rangnick at Hoffenheim and RB Leipzig. His modern approach to the game could resonate well with Manchester United, especially since Rangnick had good ideas but faced challenges with their execution.
Nagelsmann is known for his positive relationships and was dismissed by Bayern Munich primarily due to internal issues rather than his coaching ability. Following his departure, Thomas Tuchel struggled to lead Bayern effectively.
If Bayern Munich seeks to hire an international manager this summer and moves away from the promising project led by Carrick, Nagelsmann could be the right choice. He certainly stands out compared to alternatives like Roberto Martinez.
